Mark H Smith designs began serving homeowners and contractors in Southern Ontario on January 2nd of 2014. Our company works as a hub to coordinate and lead a team of industry professionals throughout the design and permit stages on each project. We can work with our clients preferred trades or from our company’s trusted referral list that has been built over the past ten years working in the construction industry. Our trusted team includes professional Engineers, Surveyors, Arborists, Contractors, Interior Designers, Real-Estate Agents and many more specialists. They join in, contribute and add value to each project whenever their services can benefit the project.

Mark Smith- Specialized BCIN Designer, Drafter and Building Permit Wrangler
Mark began his journey as an apprentice carpenter shortly after leaving the womb. He decided this line of work was worth pursuing and began crawling along this path. Starting initially as a helping hand in family renovations at the age of six, he worked his way up through the various roles for several years. Once seasoned with enough experience, he tested and became nationally recognized as a certified Red-Seal carpenter. His desire to go further and learn how to design buildings from client ideas that are then filtered through a multitude of environmental, financial and legal code analysis drove him to the drafting table to learn how to design. He then apprenticed with a professional architect and two experienced BCIN designers for several years. After becoming accredited and insured, Mark has been operating Mark H Smith Designs Inc. for the past ten years. He loves this work and enjoys helping craft a residential building project dream into a detailed set of drawings. He then works to wrangle all of the necessary government bodies on the clients behalf in order to obtain the required permits for a project to begin construction. Wrangling remains an integral part of the services package he offers because filing the necessary applications and fielding any examiner follow-ups saves clients from building department confusion headaches and ensures their project’s avoid unnecessary delays during permit processing. His goal for every project he works on is to create a satisfying experience for his clients. He strives to smoothly lead clients through the necessary and sometimes difficult steps of understanding project possibilities to then deciding on a final set of drafted drawings as a plan and then finally obtaining building permits so that the project can proceed onto the construction stage.
